Introduction to Welding
This course will focus on the operation and safety of basic equipment associated with Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), and Oxy-Acetylene Cutting (OFC-A). Instruction will benefit anyone working toward a career in the welding field or a career in which welding skills are required. This course is also valuable to the home hobbyist or as professional welding refresher.
Intermediate Mechanical Welding
This course focuses on the operation and safety of basic equipment associated with Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), and Oxy-Acetylene Cutting (OFC-A). Instruction will benefit anyone working toward a career in the welding field or a career in which welding skills are required. This course is also valuable to the home hobbyist or as a professional welding refresher.
Advanced Mechanical Welding
This class provides an introduction, intermediate or advanced instruction in mechanical TIG welding and includes combined classroom and hands-on lab instruction. Students will work with aluminum, steel and stainless steel.
Precision Machining
The Introduction to Precision Machining course will provide an overview of precision metal cutting using good safe work habits. Emphasis is on standard machine design, construction and maintenance. Students are introduced to workplace safety, precision measuring, lathes, milling, grinding and drilling machines.
High Pressure Boiler
This course prepares students to operate high-pressure boilers and to take the High-Pressure Boiler Operators Exam. Successful completion of the course earns the student 3 months credit toward the 6-month permit time required by the State of Maine to take the HP Boiler Operators Exam.
Natural Gas & Propane
This series is designed to qualify students for the State of Maine Propane & Natural Gas License. NPGA certification is necessary for state licensure and requires the successful completion of this comprehensive course. This course will include 3 areas of instruction and testing:
- Basic Principles & Practices,
- Appliance Installation/Connection
- Appliance Service.
In meeting the State of Maine requirements, all courses will include classroom instruction, hands-on labs and performance-based skills assessments.
